Cctlapse Releases New Innovative Jobsite Surveillance Technology
The new offering will provide customers peace of mind with advanced Jobsite Surveillance complete with Intelligent Motion Alerts and human verification technology
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C., May 9, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — Cctlapse, a market leader in construction camera technology trusted worldwide for construction visibility and security, has released an innovative Jobsite Surveillance feature designed to reduce theft at construction sites and minimize the risk of loss of time, money, and equipment. This type of technology is expected to be a complete game-changer when it comes to jobsite monitoring.
“This technology is a natural next step for our company and a much-needed resource for customers wanting improved security for their large job sites,” said Roger Yarrow. “We are pleased and proud to be able to offer a product that solves problems for a wide range of construction companies across the country. We believe that this turnkey new offering will prove invaluable on jobsites, adding an extra layer of security when a job site manager can’t be there 24/7.”
Over the past several years, there has been a rising climate of crime leading to a major influx of requests from customers looking for increased monitoring features (such as human verification and trained professional monitoring). With construction theft increasingly plaguing the industry, Cctlapse decided to take its technology to a new level. At the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, construction projects were halted and crews were forced to take a leave for the recommended quarantine period provided by the Center for Disease Control (CDC), leaving job sites empty and making them a target for construction material theft. The National Equipment Register estimates that the cost to the insurance and construction industry each year, due to theft alone, could be upwards of $1 billion. The demand for surveillance on these sites is no longer a luxury – it has become a necessity. Cctlapse is responding to that increased demand, which has remained prevalent.
Cctlapse’s Jobsite Surveillance protects job sites by identifying perpetrators in real time, verifying threats, and contacting law enforcement to stop criminals in the act. The new feature works by following these steps:
Utilizing Cctlapse’s Intelligent Motion Alerts, customers can select the areas and hours they want visibility on their job site. Typically, these hours are when no one should be on your job site. Customers can also choose to include or exclude certain areas of a job site.
If activity is detected in the designated zones during monitored hours, a video clip of the event will be sent to a trained monitoring representative. The representative will review the clip and determine if the threat is real.
If the threat is verified, the representative will contact the customer to verify a legitimate security threat is occurring.
The customer can then choose to request emergency services or dismiss the alert. If emergency services are requested, the representative will alert the nearest responders with a description and live video feed of the threat in progress.
“The safety and security of job sites are of utmost importance to our customers,” said Jaclyn Kramer, CMO. “Our Jobsite Surveillance functionality provides complete, trusted protection, and ensures projects can be completed without unnecessary interruptions due to vandalism and theft. We are excited to be able to offer our customers that added level of comfort”
Cctlapse Unveils Next-Generation Platform
Changes to UI enable more streamlined project management as customers increase the number of cameras on job sites.
WINSTON SALEM, N.C. – February 16, 2021 – Winston Salem-based construction camera provider Cctlapse announced today it has launched the next-generation application for its popular construction technology solution. The architecture of the new platform will allow for increased scalability and faster feature development as the company continues its growth path.
The new release brings improved performance and further simplifies how construction professionals manage and document their sites. One of the biggest changes users will notice is the Cctlapse dashboard, which allows customers to easily filter cameras by current or past projects and also view them as individual cameras or cameras by project.
“More and more of our customers are utilizing multiple cameras per project,” said Roger Yarrow, Cctlapse COO. “Our new dashboard allows them to better organize their data and gain visibility into their projects. At a high level, the dashboard shows a complete overview of all projects. Users can then drill down into further project details and zoom into specific parts of the job site”
February 2, 2021 officially marked the release for new Cctlapse customers. Current Cctlapse customers will be slowly migrated to the new UI over a period of several months.
Cctlapse Product Manager, Jimmy Hodson noted, “We designed the UI with customer usability in mind. Our customers are being tasked with managing an increasingly larger volume of projects and often times these projects are not necessarily in close proximity to one another, or the team’s base of operations. While it’s always been a priority to support a remote workforce, that need has been compounded over the past year as COVID-19 has taken its toll on the industry. The new dashboard allows customers to quickly gain access to specific projects and be their eyes on the site at a moment’s notice.”
This announcement comes on the heels of increased security-related offerings from Cctlapse last year, including expansion of its Intelligent Security features and the introduction of a new line of infrared cameras, capable of continuous jobsite monitoring, even in complete darkness.
Cctlapse Expands Operations with New Headquarters in Winston Salem’s Innovation Quarter
Employees gathered for a ribbon cutting Friday afternoon
WINSTON SALEM, N.C. – September 14, 2020 – Winston Salem-based construction camera provider Cctlapse announced today it has expanded its operations with a new office located in the rapidly growing Innovation Quarter of Winston Salem.
Cctlapse employees gathered at the new office for a ribbon cutting ceremony this past Friday. “The ribbon cutting was particularly momentous for us,” said Roger Yarrow, Cctlapse COO. “Not only has an immense amount of work gone into the planning for this space but, taking precautions for COVID-19, most of our team has been working remotely since mid-March, and this was the first time we’ve been able to get together as a whole team. Doing so in order to celebrate this new space was extra special.”
The company expanded its long-time office in Winston Salem’s Liberty Plaza in Q1 of 2019, doubling their previous space, but quickly outgrew that location with a nearly 80% increase in staff over the last year. The new space in the Innovation Quarter, at 10,000 square feet, provides the solution needed to support their further expansion and product development plans over the next several years.
“As the construction industry has been undergoing a digital transformation, we have seen many more customers treating construction cameras as a requirement on their jobsites, rather than a ‘nice to have,’” said Yarrow. “As a result we have experienced an increase in demand and are excited to rise to the occasion to meet the needs of our customers and the construction industry.”
For the past five years, Cctlapse has experienced roughly 40% year over year growth in bookings. Last year the company grew its product offering with the expansion of its Intelligent Security features and the introduction of mobile camera trailers. Last month it launched a new line of infrared cameras, capable of continuous jobsite monitoring, even in complete darkness.
Cctlapse Launches IR Camera Series
Integrated IR allows for exceptional image quality, even in total darkness
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – August 31, 2020 – Winston Salem-based construction camera provider Cctlapse announced today it has launched a line of infrared (IR) cameras, which enhance jobsite security by allowing monitoring to continue in any lighting condition, even complete darkness.
Cctlapse’s IR cameras include both fixed position and robotic PTZ (pan, tilt, zoom) camera options. The camera’s IR range allows for illumination between 50 and 200 meters, depending on the camera.
“The integrated IR of our new construction cameras will be a great asset to customers wishing to increase the security of their jobsites at night,” said Roger Yarrow, Cctlapse COO. “In a recent Jobsite Security Report published by Cctlapse, respondents noted that, overwhelmingly, most thefts happen overnight. With its built-in IR capability, your camera will perform significantly better in detecting nighttime events and documenting them with improved clarity.”
Earlier this year, Cctlapse expanded its Intelligent Security offering to include customizable motion alerts for all of its cameras. The new IR line of cameras further supports the Intelligent Security capabilities.
Cctlapse Announces Nationwide Installation Services
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – May 28, 2020 – Winston-Salem-based construction camera provider Cctlapse announced today it is making nationwide installation services available for all cameras and to all of its US customers.
As part of its full-service offering, Cctlapse will provide installation services ranging from the basic installation of one camera to more complex projects, such as those requiring utility pole placement or additional equipment.
“Whether through innovation or value-added services, we’re constantly trying to improve our customers’ experience,” said Roger Yarrow, Cctlapse COO. “While no special expertise is needed to get a Cctlapse camera mounted and running, some jobsite situations benefit from professional installation services. Additionally, some customers would just rather have us take the installation process off their hands for them, and we are happy to now be able to do that.”
Earlier this year, Cctlapse launched new Intelligent Security features across its entire camera line, allowing customizable motion alerts for all users.
Cctlapse Releases Findings of 2020 Jobsite Security Report
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – April 9, 2020 – Winston-Salem-based construction camera provider Cctlapse announced today findings of its 2020 Jobsite Security Report. The report surveyed 739 construction professionals and security managers in Q1 of 2020 to assess their perceptions about jobsite security and the obstacles they face.
Analysis revealed that although construction professionals know that theft is rampant, many firms are slow to adopt the sophisticated surveillance and security solutions they need. Key findings of the report include:
- More than three out of four construction professionals have experienced jobsite theft. Single losses were substantial, ranging as high as $50,000 for nearly a third of respondents.
- Sophisticated thieves, lack of budget for security, and inadequate staff training were the biggest challenges cited.
- A substantial number of thefts were from individuals who had legitimate access to the jobsite, and a vast number of those thefts were targeted at tools.
- Stolen items were rarely recovered, but when they were, the police were involved and security cameras were present.
Cctlapse Product Manager, Jimmy Hodson, will be presenting further findings of this report during a webinar with Construction Executive on April 15, 2020.
“With theft being such a prevalent source of loss for our customers, we want to make sure we’re doing our part to make for more secure jobsites,” said Hodson. “Our experience, along with data from this report, suggests that the best way to secure jobsites is through a multi-layered approach including the use of construction cameras.”
In Q1 of this year, Cctlapse announced motion alerts as part of its expanded Intelligent Security offering. In addition to customizable motion alerts, all Cctlapse cameras offer 24/7 HD security recording with at least 30 days of rolling storage. Fetched security recordings are saved indefinitely within the user dashboard.
Cctlapse Construction Cameras Expand Intelligent Security Offerings with New Features on All Cameras
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – February 4, 2020 – Winston-Salem-based construction camera provider Cctlapse announced today the launch of new Intelligent Security features across its entire camera line.
Cctlapse, a leader in construction camera technology for more than 20 years, is the only company offering construction cameras combining live jobsite viewing, project time-lapsing, and Intelligent Security on all cameras, for the same service fee.
The new Intelligent Security feature of the Cctlapse Construction Cameras allows for individually customized alert notifications that can be enabled by any system user. Customers are able to set the frequency and time of day to be notified. When motion is sensed on the job inside of the set hours, alerts are sent to project administrators via email and/or text message. Alerts include a live image of the jobsite, showing motion detected. Security recordings have a visual indicator on the recorded clip, showing exactly where motion activity was captured, eliminating the need to search through hours of footage.
“Many of our customers rely on our cameras not only for project management, but to keep their jobsite secure,” said Cctlapse Product Manager, Jimmy Hodson. “In the past, a further percentage of our customers have implemented additional security tools to protect their jobsites – most notably, security-specific cameras with motion alerts. These new features, included across our entire camera line, allow project managers to know what’s happening at their jobsite, even when they’re not there.
Cctlapse cameras record 24/7 in HD 720p, or 1080p, depending on the camera, and feature 30 days of rolling video storage. Additionally, downloaded videos are saved forever as part of Cctlapse’s “free forever” cloud storage.
